Abstract

In this work, a 19F NMR spectroscopic probe, p-fluorobenzonitrile (FBN), was used to evaluate the relative Lewis acidity of boranes. The resulting scale provides a trend for moderate to strong Lewis acidic boranes that are compared to Gutmann-Beckett method and theoretically calculated fluoride affinity (FA) values.
