Abstract
An alkylative carbosulfonylation protocol for the
formation of C-S and C-C bonds between sulfinate
salts and readily available alkenes under visible
light irradiation is reported. This approach formally
couples two alkene molecules to give access
to highly functionalized sp3 sulfone products following
two sequential radical additions. Homocoupled
and polarity mismatched cross-coupled
products were obtained. The utility of the methodology
is highlighted by further transformations of
the novel sulfone products.
