Abstract
The principles of Green Chemistry and Engineering were formalised more than 20 years ago to guide us toward a safe and sustainable future. This framework is as important as ever in the development of chemical technologies that support human well-being while addressing the complex challenges we face in sustainability. This perspective is a reflection on the duty of chemists and engineers to integrate these principles into their practice, and how doing so can help confront diverse problems such as climate change, sustainable food production, pollution control, renewable construction materials, and green energy production and storage.
