Abstract

Silicone precursors of high purity can now be synthesized via the solvent-free hydrosilylation of olefins mediated by highly stable and active hybrid glassy catalyst comprised of mesoporous organosilica microspheres doped with Pt nanoparticles. These findings open the route to more sustainable silicone manufacturing while providing desirable further reduction in the amount of platinum in silicones, namely ubiquitous advanced polymers with multiple uses and applications.
